Larry Hill is a retired Police Officer after 30 years of work with the Virginia Beach Police Dept, Norfolk Police Dept. and the Virginia State Police. Twenty-six years with the Norfolk Police Department.

Public Information Officer previously for Norfolk Police Dept., Norfolk Fire Dept., Virginia State Police and presently with the Virginia Department of Health.

Public information officer with the Virginia Department of Health since 2003.

BA degree in Criminal Justice and an Associated Degree in Liberal Arts from Saint Leo University May 7, 2000.

Hill holds a Certified Communicator of Public Health (CCPH) accreditation from the National Public Health Information Coalition. One of the first 10 in the country to receive this honor. Hill instructs CDC’s Crisis and Emergency Risk Communications (CERC). Hill is an instructor for FEMA at the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) teaching the Master PIO course, Advanced PIO, Basic PIO course and Joint Information Center course. He is also a consultant for FEMA and assisted in the updating of many of the FEMA PIO trainings. Hill is also an instructor for the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and Virginia Department of Health.

Worked with FEMA and CDC on high profile incidents including Hurricane Katrina and a TB investigation involving the identification of over 3,000 people needing a TB test after exposed to a nurse prior to her death from contagious TB.

Most recent experiences working at the Virginia Tech tragedy with the Medical Examiner’s Office where 32 people died and the Virginia Beach mass shooting event in 2019.

President 2012 of the National Public Health Information Coalition (NPHIC), an organization of public health and hospital public information officers.
