Lynn Sutfin has served as Public Information Officer for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for the past six years, helping state and national media cover health-related topics and ensuring information about how to live healthy reaches Michigan families. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as the lead PIO for the State of Michigan.
During her more than 20 years with state government public relations, she has gained experience in strategic and crisis communications, advertising and marketing, writing and media relations, as well as creating targeted content for a variety of mediums. Lynn started her career as a newspaper reporter where she served in every role from photographer to darkroom tech, layout artist to writer, proofreader and finally editor.
Lynn was part of the award-winning communications team at the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning where she promoted seat belt use, sober and safe driving and motorcycle safety through the Click It or Ticket, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Ride Safe to Ride Again campaigns. As the Digital Media Strategist for the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, she promoted veterans’ issues and helped those who served our country get connected with the benefits they earned through their service.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Michigan State University.
When she’s not talking with the media, Lynn enjoys spending time with her family, riding the trails of the Upper Peninsula, and visiting the state’s numerous cideries and wineries.
