New CDC Report Highlights ADHD Prevalence, Treatment Challenges, and Telehealth Use in Adults

A recent CDC report estimates that 15.5 million U.S. adults have ADHD, with nearly half having used telehealth for ADHD-related services. Approximately one-third of adults with ADHD take stimulant medication, but 71.5% of them reported challenges filling their prescriptions. This study, based on CDC’s Rapid Survey System, provides the first national estimates in over a decade on adult ADHD prevalence, diagnosis, and treatment, including telehealth use.

The findings offer critical insights to guide clinical care, address medication shortages, and shape regulations around telehealth and stimulant prescriptions. CDC collaborates with agencies like the FDA to improve ADHD care and support through public health surveillance and educational resources. Read more from the CDC here.
