FDA Seeks $7.2 Billion to Strengthen Public Health

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has proposed a budget of $7.2 billion for fiscal year (FY) 2025, with a focus on bolstering public health efforts. This funding increase, totaling $495 million above the FY 2023 level, aims to strengthen food safety and nutrition initiatives, enhance medical product safety, ensure supply chain resiliency, and modernize agency infrastructure and facilities.

 

Specifically, investments will support root-cause investigations to prevent foodborne illnesses, address supply chain disruptions, maintain a qualified workforce, implement cosmetics regulation, and modernize data infrastructure.
