‘Alarming’ Rise in Americans with Long COVID Symptoms

A recent survey by the CDC indicates that approximately 6.8% of American adults are currently grappling with long COVID symptoms, marking a concerning uptick from previous months despite the CDC's relaxation of COVID isolation guidelines. This increase, from 5.3% in October, suggests that about 17.6 million Americans could be affected by long COVID.

Experts view this rise with alarm, particularly given the significant impact on individuals' daily activities, affecting approximately 3.8 million Americans severely. Factors such as recent infection surges, vaccination rates, and new variants contribute to this trend. This surge in long COVID cases represents the highest rate since November 2022, raising concerns among health officials about the ongoing challenges posed by post- COVID symptoms.
