Millennials and Gen Xers Face Higher Risk of 17 Cancers Than Previous Generations

A recent study in The Lancet Public Health reveals that Millennials and Gen Xers face a higher risk of developing 17 types of cancer compared to older generations. The study analyzed data from over 23 million patients, identifying a significant rise in cancers such as uterine, pancreatic, colon, and kidney among those born after 1955.

Notably, 10 of the 17 cancers are linked to obesity, suggesting that early-life exposure to environmental or lifestyle factors may contribute to this trend. While certain cancers are declining, particularly those related to tobacco and HPV, the study underscores the growing cancer risk in younger populations, highlighting a need for further research and preventive strategies.
