Rising Concern: Surge in Energy Drink Exposures Among Children Spurs Public Health Warnings

Poison control centers across the U.S. reported a 24% increase in calls about kids consuming energy drinks in 2023, with a total of 2,694 cases, up from 2,168 in 2022. Caffeine consumption in children can cause hyperactivity, anxiety, and sleep issues, with more severe cases leading to heart problems or even seizures. Public health experts urge caution, especially given targeted marketing to younger audiences. Read more from The Hill here.
