Voting is Critical to The Pursuit of Health Equity

Voting is now recognized as a public health priority. In June 2023, voter participation was named as a ‘core objective’ in the nation's health goals, Healthy People 2030. As stated by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP), voting influences community decisions that impact health and well-being.
 
Research shows a strong correlation between accessible voting and better health outcomes, including lower mortality rates and fewer COVID-19 cases. Both the American Public Health Association and the American Medical Association emphasize that addressing political determinants, like voter participation, is crucial for tackling health disparities.
