What to Know About the Parvovirus B19 Virus Uptick in the U.S.

Federal health officials have alerted doctors to a rise in parvovirus B19 infections in the U.S., particularly among children aged 5 to 9. While the virus, often called "slapped-cheek disease," typically causes mild symptoms, it can lead to severe complications for those who are pregnant, immunocompromised, or have certain blood disorders.
