CDC: More Cases and Additional Death Reported in Listeria Outbreak

A recent CDC Food Safety Alert has revealed a concerning rise in a multistate Listeria outbreak linked to deli meats, with 43 cases and three reported deaths. The outbreak strain, traced to Boar’s Head products, was identified in unopened liverwurst collected by New York State authorities.

The CDC advises high-risk individuals, including pregnant people, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems, to avoid deli meats unless reheated to 165°F. Businesses are urged to discard affected products and follow strict cleaning protocols to prevent further contamination. Public health communicators should prioritize spreading awareness to mitigate this public health threat. Read more from the CDC here.
