Social Listening Analysis of Public Opinion About Authorizing Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccine

A recent social listening study in Health Affairs Scholar analyzed nearly 150,000 comments on the FDA's emergency use authorization of COVID-19 vaccines for children to uncover public sentiment and concerns. Using topic modeling, the research identified three main areas: specific worries about the vaccines, underlying beliefs influencing vaccine attitudes, and anti-vaccine rhetoric strategies.

The findings emphasize the importance of understanding these domains to design effective vaccination counseling and public health campaigns. By leveraging computational methods for sentiment analysis, public health professionals can better address misinformation and develop targeted strategies to enhance vaccine acceptance and education.
