CDC Data Shows Over 70 Million U.S. Adults Reported Having a Disability

The CDC's latest Disability and Health Data System (DHDS) update reveals that over 70 million U.S. adults, more than 1 in 4, reported having a disability in 2022. The new data includes insights into Long COVID, showing that 10.8% of people with disabilities experienced persistent symptoms, compared to 6.6% of those without disabilities.

This highlights a critical need to address the higher risks faced by people with disabilities, who may be more susceptible to severe COVID-19 outcomes due to various factors. As we approach the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, these findings reinforce the importance of disability inclusion and ongoing support for affected individuals.
