The Impact of Chronic Underfunding on America’s Public Health System: Trends, Risks, and Recommendations, 2023

According to Trust for America’s Health’s (TFAH) newly published annual report, The Impact of Chronic Underfunding on America’s Public Health System: Trends, Risks, and Recommendations, 2023, the boom-and-bust pattern of public health funding has left the nation less prepared to respond to health emergencies and to prevent chronic disease. Through the report, TFAH calls for an additional $4.5 billion in annual public health funding to allow states and local health departments to strengthen their foundational capabilities. The report includes recommendations for policy actions by Congress and the administration within four categories. Read the report from TFAH here.
