Give Women a Way Out of Contraceptive Deserts

An astounding 45% of pregnancies in the U.S. are estimated to be unintended. Many of these pregnancies result from a lack of access to birth control – a problem that's especially acute for women with lower incomes. Right now, 19 million women who are eligible for publicly funded contraception live in "contraceptive deserts," where they struggle to access a health center that offers the full range of birth control options. Not surprisingly, these women are disproportionately from historically marginalized groups. It’s critical that public officials recognize the severity of this crisis – and dismantle the many structural barriers that prevent women from getting the contraception they need. See more from The Hill here.
